On 24 May, Minister Hilde Crevits attended the Ministerial Conference for Higher Education in Paris. The Flemish Minister of Education argued for an extension of automatic mutual recognition of the level of diplomas and for a stronger encouragement for international student mobility.
During the conference, Minister Crevits also presented Flanders’ new quality control system for higher education. Flanders has already taken a leading role within the Benelux in this field. Crevits is prepared to take this role to the European level: "Due to the success of the new system of reviews in which the educational institutions stay in charge of the quality checks, we are confident to take a leading role on European level.”
Every two or three years a Ministerial Conference is organised in order to assess the progress made since the Declaration of Bologna. This edition of the European Higher Education Area Conference was held in Paris from 24 to 25 May. General Representative Filip D'Havé assisted Minister Crevits during the conference.
