Guyana is located on the South American mainland, but for historical reasons is deemed to be in the Caribbean. The Government of Flanders does not maintain intense bilateral relations with the countries in this area, the majority of which are members of CARICOM, the regional integration organisation. Of course, this does not preclude any potential ad hoc cooperation and contact between Flemish companies, academic hubs or civil society with their counterparts in these countries, including within the framework of the partnership between the European Union and ACP countries (Cotonou Agreement).
