Project: Promoting decent work in tea plantations in Malawi's Thyolo District
Beneficiary: ILO (via Flanders - ILO Trustfund)
Amount: 275.442 euro
Duration: March 2018 – March 2020
The project aims to promote sustainable, rural livelihoods and decent work through improved employment and working conditions in the tea sector in Malawi. The project is based on a two-tier strategy, combining an institutional development component with a direct support component.
The first component is aimed at improving the capacity of the government and the organizations of employees and employers to tackle the challenges in the area of employment and labour in the large plantation sector. The second component includes targeted action to address honest workplace shortages in and around the tea plantations of Malawi.
