The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna (KHM) is dedicating the world’s first major monograph exhibition to Pieter Bruegel the Elder. 2019 sees the 450th anniversary of the dead Bruegel.
The collection consists for a significant part of art collection of the Habsburg monarchy. The collection of paintings focuses on the old masters from the 15th to 18th century. The collection includes work by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Rubens or Van Dyck.
The KHM is considered one of the most eminent museums of the world. (1.5 million visitors annually) Numerous major art works of European art history are housed in the paintings gallery.
