On 29 November at the Ministerial Sports Conference in Budapest, Minister Philippe Muyters signed an agreement against match-fixing and football violence. He also gave an presentation of the 'Code Muyters’. After the rules surrounding the whereabouts, another Flemish initiative gets international recognition.
The security in our football stadiums and the expanding problem of match-fixing are two of the most pressing problems in today's football. At a meeting of European Sports Ministers in Budapest both issues were on the agenda. The ministers signed two treaties which should enable a coordinated approach.
Next year, in order to receive financing, sports federations in Flanders will be reviewed on the application of the principles of good governance. Minister Muyters summed up the rules and made a code of Good Governance in Sports clubs, called Code Muyters. At the meeting in Budapest he presented the code to his colleagues.
Philippe Muyters: "The response was very positive. Several countries have requested more information. Following the rules surrounding the whereabouts, it is the second time that our Flemish sports policy is eagerly copied by my European colleagues. We get international recognition for our work for professionalization and objectification of the sport. "
