Jamaica is centrally located in the Caribbean and in some ways, acts as a hub for the other island states. Many Flemish people go there on holiday. The Government of Flanders does not maintain intense bilateral relations with many of the small island states and overseas territories in the Caribbean, the majority of which are members of CARICOM, the regional integration organisation. Of course, this does not preclude any potential ad hoc cooperation and contact between Flemish companies, academic hubs or civil society with their counterparts in these countries, including within the framework of the partnership between the European Union and ACP countries (Cotonou Agreement).
