From 22 to 24 June, Minister of Culture Sven Gatz paid a visit to the Malta Festival in Poznań, Poland. Minister Gatz allocated 50.000 euros to this festival. “In order to support the international ambitions of the Flemish arts, Flanders must contribute to the international art scene and to foreign art venues.”
“The Malta Festival is known as an innovator in the world of performing arts festivals. Not only, it presents some of the most interesting contemporary cultural productions from all over the world, Malta Festival also was one of the first to combine a ‘classic’ theatre program with performance, music, visual arts and education.” For this 28th edition of the festival, Flemish performance group Needcompany is invited as curator. Needcompany created a program around the theme ‘Leap of Faith Idiom’ in which they contrast their own work with performance and visual art.
The Malta festival always had a special eye for Flemish performing arts. Flanders was the central theme of the 2010 edition, named ‘Idiom: Flanders’.
