Invited by Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, Minister-President Geert Bourgeois visited the court on 18 October.
Now Brexit and the future of the European trade policy is at crossroads in the EU, both excellencies exchanged views on these matters.
In the afternoon, Minister-President Bourgeois held a meeting with Karel Pinxten in Luxembourg. This former Flemish politician holds a high function at the European Court of Auditors. The ECA audits the EU’s budget and policies, primarily in areas relating to growth and jobs, added value, public finances, the environment and climate action.
Pinxten and Minister-President Bourgeois discussed the efficiency and effectiveness of European funding, in particular the Structural Funds, in addition to a number of technical issues related to the auditing of European funds in Flanders.
