On 24 September, Leuven was proclaimed winner of the ‘European Capital of Innovation Awards’. This prize was awarded by the European Commission and rewards cities that focus on innovation to improve their residents’ quality of life.
On 15 July, Minister-president Jan Jambon received the Catalan Foreign Minister Bernat Solé i Barril in the Errera House. It was the first meeting between the two since Bernat Solé's appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
On 14 September, Minister-president Jambon met his fellow European ministers of culture in Berlin. They were invited by the German Minister of Culture and Media, Monika Grütters, as part of the German EU Presidency programme.
On 10 July, the Government of Flanders approved three grants for agricultural projects in Malawi. The grants, for a total value of more than 4 million euros, are for the continuation of three successful projects previously supported by Flanders.
