For the twentieth year in a row, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) awards Flemish companies that excel in export. Flanders’ export agency emphasizes the enormous importance of international trade for the Flemish economy. The Export Lion Award ensures national awareness, but also opens many doors internationally thanks to FIT's foreign network.
During this anniversary edition, Flanders Investment & Trade awarded the prestigious export award to three companies: Molecubes (Ghent), Sylva (Lievegem) and Locinox (Waregem). In their very diverse niches, they all use technological innovation to outsmart international competition.
During the award ceremony – from Brussels and via livestream – Roel Van Holen, CEO of Molecubes, Tim Van Hulle, General Manager of Sylva and Mike Emmerechts, CEO of Locinox received their trophy from Claire Tillekaerts, Managing Director of FIT.

“In the first six months of this year, Flanders exported no less than 8.5% more than in the same period in 2019. A strong export recovery, which is largely – but certainly not only – attributable to the large-scale export of corona vaccines. The performance of our Flemish exporters is even more impressive when we take into account the unprecedented challenges of the past period. The new 'Lions of Export' show not only a clear export vision, but also determination and daring. I therefore hope that these ambassadors will inspire many other entrepreneurs to spread their wings.” – Minister-President Jan Jambon.
