The British and European negotiators reached an agreement on their future relationship (Trade and Cooperation Agreement) on 24 December. This agreement can be found on the European Commission's website. The agreement includes agreements on the future trade relationship between the UK and the EU, cooperation on transport, energy, fisheries and participation in Union programmes. There are also provisions to ensure a level playing field between UK and European companies in the future. This is essential for the competitiveness of our businesses and the protection of Europe's internal market.
The agreement was already welcomed by Flemish Minister-President Jambon, who tweeted the following:
"Positive that the EU and the UK have reached a brexit agreement. We are now going to take a good look at this. Thanks to Michel Barnier for the commitment. An end to uncertainty is in sight, but the impact on Flanders will be considerable. The Flemish Government is ready for citizens, employees, fishermen and businesses."
