On 19 November, a conference on the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) took place in Rome. A delegation of Flemish Minister of Education, Ben Weyts, participated in the digital conference.
EHEA is an international collaboration on higher education between 48 - 49 since the conference - countries with different political, cultural and academic traditions. Over the last twenty years, these countries have built an Education Area based on shared values, such as freedom of expression, autonomy for institutions, academic freedom,… The main goal is to increase staff and students’ mobility and to facilitate employability.
During the Conference, EHEA Ministers adopted the Rome Ministerial Communiqué. This document will give indications on the next ten years of work of the entire European Higher Education Area. The participating countries have agreed to commit to building an inclusive, innovative and interconnected EHEA by 2030.
Flanders welcomes the adopted Communiqué and will strive towards a full implementation of the commitments.
