On 6 November Julie Bynens, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, and Jolanta Balciunieneè, Director Europe of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed a new work program for the period 2019-2023.
One of the new areas of cooperation is biotechnology. Flanders Bio is already working closely with Life Sciences Baltics and wishes to expand this. The Flemish government also hopes that Lithuania will provide the opportunity to study Dutch in higher education. Training in port management in Antwerp is now also possible for Lithuanian experts.
On the Lithuanian side, the project "Kaunas, European Cultural Capital 2022" was presented. The city of Kortrijk will cooperate with Kaunas on the themes of design and modernist architecture.
The meeting in Vilnius was attended by Dries Willems, the new General Representative of the Government of Flanders in Poland and the Baltic States.
