On 5 July 2022, Minister-President Jan Jambon handed out the first Fayat scholarships at the Errera House, the official residence of the Government of Flanders. The event was attended by representatives of the recipient countries, rectors and other interested parties.
With the Fayat scholarships, talented students are given the opportunity to continue studying at the best top institutions in the world. At the same time, these students become 'ambassadors' who help put the image of Flanders as a top innovative region even more strongly on the map.
For this first batch, 26 students were selected. They will travel to the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, France and the Netherlands.
"I wish these young Flemish top talents a lot of success, with this fatherly advice: "Seize the opportunity, study hard, persevere. But also: try to see something of the city and the region and take time for meetings with people from there. And sometimes you can take your belt off. Good luck," said Minister-President Jambon.
The next selection round is scheduled for September 2022.
