On June 7, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was concluded in Santiago de Chile between the Chilean National Service for the Elderly (SENAMA) on the one hand and the Flemish Department of Welfare, Public Health and Family (WVG) and the Agency for Care and Health on the other hand.
In 2019, a delegation from the WVG policy area paid a study visit to Chile. During that visit, a meeting was planned with experts from SENAMA.
The cooperation will mainly focus on residential care, care inspection and accreditation, dementia policy (with a focus on young-onset dementia) and social integration and financing mechanisms in care infrastructure.
For Flanders, the MoU was signed by the Belgian ambassador to Chile, Mr Geert Criel.
