The 5th Joint Permanent Commission between Flanders and Catalonia took place on Thursday, 4 April in Barcelona. During this commission, members of both delegations agreed upon a new work programme for the period 2019 – 2021.
The new agreement focuses on a large number of competences of the Government of Flanders, including culture, health, innovation, tourism, science and research, environment, transport and digitisation.
The 2019-2021 work programme was signed by Ms. Mireia Borrell, the Catalan Director-General for External Relations and Dr. Freddy Evens, Secretary-General of Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs.
Furthermore, the two main speakers Francis Deprez (VLAIO) and Lluis Rovira (CERCA) discussed the theme ‘Research and Development’ in a European perspective. The EU has a key role to play in everything that concerns this theme.
