As a result of an annual administrative and political process within Flanders, it was decided to consider the following eight files from the Commission Work Programme 2022 as priorities for the Government of Flanders:
- Review of EU air quality legislation
- European Cyber Resilience Act
- European Chips Act
- Digital skills in education and training (cluster of two initiatives):
- Recommendation on improving the provision of digital skills in education and training
- Recommendation on the key factors for digital education
- Multimodal digital mobility services
- Communication on a European Strategy for Care, accompanied by the revision of the Barcelona targets and a proposal for a Council Recommendation on long-term care
- European law on media freedom
- Strengthening the role and independence of equality bodies
These initiatives will be followed up with particular attention within the Flemish administration and the Government of Flanders. Of course, all files from the Work Programme 2022 Committee relating to Flemish competences will be actively monitored, as will ongoing initiatives.
The Government of Flanders attaches great importance to a proactive follow-up of the European agenda, among other things by actively responding to European current events and the Commission work programmes. This is reported monthly in the monthly announcements about European developments, which you can consult here.
