On 13 December, the Government of Flanders approved the grants for four projects in Mozambique for a total value of 5.3 million euros. These projects were selected from the call of April 2019 for projects dealing with sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), specifically aimed at adolescents in the provinces of Tete and Maputo.
The projects also have in common that they operate close to the target group and have a duration of 3 to 4 years. When selecting the projects, great importance was attached to applying the "Leave no one behind" principle, certainly if this was aimed at young people with a disability.
Mozambique is one of the three partner countries of the Flemish development cooperation. There is intensive cooperation with the Ministry of Healthcare to improve the health system. The projects of other partners supported by Flanders always aim to improve care and the health care system.
The four projects:
- An Inclusive, Positive Deviance Approach to improving Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Services and Communications - PCI Media and ICHR-Mozambique and TV Surdo
- Leaving no adolescent behind: improving access to inclusive, gender sensitive and quality sexual and reproductive health care services - Doctors for Africa and ICHR-Mozambique
- Health, Education and Adolescents Rights - Ariel Glader Foundation and União a Vida
- Strengthening the health system in Mozambique - Population Services Internatonal
