The Government of Flanders approved the revised version of the Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-Production on 4 May.
The convention updates the treaty of 1992 and provides a legal and financial framework for producers from different countries wishing to co-operate on the production of a film. It provides more flexibility for film producers and facilitates the co-working.
Between 2006 and 2017, Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) co-financed 87 productions according the terms of the Convention. Zagros, the debut film of Flanders-based Kurdish director Sahim Omar Kalifa, is one of those. The movie was produced by the Ghents production company ‘A Private View’ in cooperation with Man's Film Production (Brussels) and Viking Film (the Netherlands).
