Minister Zuhal Demir werd op 18 juni verkozen tot vice-voorzitter voor Europa binnen de Raad van Bestuur van Regions4. Samen met vertegenwoordigers van de regio's Baskenland, La Réunion, Jalisco en Rabat-Salé-Kenitra zal ze de komende twee jaar meewerken om de ambities van Regions4 waar te maken.
Het Netwerk van Regionale Overheden voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling, nrg4SD, werd in 2019 omgevormd tot Regions4. De organisatie verenigt 41 regionale overheden wereldwijd rond de thema’s klimaatverandering, biodiversiteit en duurzame ontwikkeling.
Minister Demir: “Regions4 plays a crucial role to support regions in the deployment and implementation of internationally agreed environmental, climate and sustainability agendas and to face the challenges that this implies. Flanders is committed to working with Regions4 leadership to make the most of the recovery from the pandemic as a chance to substantially contribute to the much-needed climate and energy transitions in our territories and for our citizens.”
